An anal fissure refers to a tear in the skin or mucous membrane around the anus, typically accompanied by symptoms such as pain and bleeding. In general cases, mild anal fissures can heal within 2 to 6 weeks after appropriate treatment measures are taken, such as improving dietary habits, maintaining regular bowel movements, using sitz baths, and applying topical medications.

For patients with slightly more severe symptoms, such as intensified pain and constipation, effective control can be achieved through medication and lifestyle adjustments, with recovery possibly taking one or two weeks. These patients may use potassium permanganate sitz baths and apply hemorrhoid ointments or other medications to promote healing.

For patients with severe or chronic anal fissures, symptoms are more severe and may include intense pain, constipation, local ulcers, or long-standing fissures that have become chronic. These cases may require longer treatment periods or even surgical intervention for complete recovery.
