How long after a hyaluronic acid injection (mesotherapy) can I use skincare products?
After receiving hyaluronic acid injection treatment, my facial skin has some needle marks and slight redness and swelling. I would like to ask when I can start using skincare products again.
Under normal circumstances, doctors usually recommend avoiding the use of any skincare products for 24 to 48 hours after receiving hyaluronic acid injections, especially those containing irritating ingredients such as alcohol, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), and retinoic acid. This is because these ingredients may irritate the skin that has just undergone injections, potentially worsening redness and swelling or prolonging the recovery period.
Therefore, the timing for resuming skincare after hyaluronic acid treatment should depend on the skin's recovery status. Generally, it is recommended to start using gentle skincare products 3 to 7 days post-treatment, gradually returning to a normal skincare routine within a week.
Hyaluronic acid injection is a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting substances like hyaluronic acid into the skin to enhance its hydration and radiance. After the injections, the skin may experience mild redness, swelling, or sensitivity, thus requiring a period of time for stabilization. This recovery process typically lasts about 3 to 7 days, although the exact duration may vary depending on individual differences. If the skin damage is minimal, the recovery time may be shorter; if the damage is more significant, the recovery period may be extended.
When applying skincare products, it is important to do so gently to avoid excessive friction on the skin. Additionally, sun protection and avoiding ultraviolet radiation remain crucial to prevent issues such as hyperpigmentation. If any discomfort occurs during the use of skincare products, discontinue use immediately and consult a healthcare professional.
