Is it normal for the wound to scab after double eyelid surgery?
I had double eyelid surgery a week ago. Starting from the third day after the surgery, I noticed that the surgical site began to scab. I would like to ask if it is normal for the incision site of double eyelid surgery to scab?
It is a normal physiological reaction for scabs to form during the wound healing process after double eyelid surgery.
During the double eyelid surgery, the skin sustains a certain degree of injury, and postoperative wounds may exude blood and tissue fluid. Over time, these exudates gradually coagulate and dry, forming a crust (scab) over the wound surface. The scab acts as a natural protective barrier, helping to prevent invasion by external bacteria and other microorganisms, thereby creating a relatively clean and stable environment for further wound healing. Therefore, wound scabbing is part of the body's natural healing process.
After surgery, follow your doctor's instructions to regularly and gently clean the wound with normal saline or a disinfectant recommended by your doctor; avoid using harsh cleansers. Try not to touch or peel the scab with your hands, as this may cause wound infection or delay the healing process. Maintain a balanced diet and consume more protein- and vitamin-rich foods to help promote wound healing. If the scab is accompanied by symptoms such as increased redness, swelling, pain, or increased discharge, it may indicate an infection, and you should contact your doctor for an examination immediately.
