What are the symptoms of anal fissure?
I have recently experienced severe anal pain during bowel movements, accompanied by a small amount of bleeding. The pain lasts for a long time and affects my daily life. What are the symptoms of an anal fissure?
Anal fissure is a common anorectal condition, with primary symptoms including severe anal pain, particularly during defecation, followed by slight relief after bowel movement. Subsequently, intense pain recurs due to anal sphincter spasm, and the pain may persist for several hours after defecation. Additionally, patients often experience rectal bleeding, characterized by bright red blood in small amounts, usually seen on the stool surface or dripping into the toilet bowl.
For treatment of anal fissures, patients are advised to maintain regular bowel movements and avoid both constipation and diarrhea to reduce anal irritation. Medications such as nitroglycerin ointment may be used to promote healing of the fissure. If anal fissures recur frequently or symptoms are severe, prompt medical attention is recommended.
