What can I eat to lower bilirubin levels?
A while ago during a hospital check-up, I received the test results and the doctor told me that my bilirubin level was elevated. He mentioned that I should pay attention to my diet, but didn't give many specific details. I would like to know what kind of food is recommended for this condition?

The following foods may help lower bilirubin levels:
1. High-fiber foods: Such as oats, brown rice, and whole wheat bread, which can help the intestines better absorb bile acids, reduce the reabsorption of bilirubin, and thus lower bilirubin levels in the blood.
2. Foods rich in vitamin C: Such as citrus fruits, strawberries, kiwifruit, and leafy green vegetables. Vitamin C has antioxidant properties that can protect liver cells from damage by free radicals, promote liver function, and aid in the normal metabolism of bilirubin.
3. High-quality protein: Consuming moderate amounts of high-quality protein such as fish, chicken, and soy products can help repair the liver and maintain its normal function. However, excessive intake of animal fats and foods high in cholesterol should be avoided to prevent additional strain on the liver.
4. Low-fat diet: Reduce intake of saturated and trans fats, and avoid fried foods, fast food, and processed meats, as these may increase the burden on the liver and affect the normal metabolism of bilirubin.
It is also recommended to ensure adequate sleep, avoid excessive fatigue, quit smoking and alcohol consumption, and maintain a balanced diet.
