Can vulvar itching resolve on its own?
Hello doctor, I have recently been experiencing itching in the vulva area and would like to ask if this condition can resolve on its own. I don't have any other particularly severe symptoms—just the itching, sometimes quite bothersome and sometimes slightly better. I would like to know whether vulvar itching can possibly subside without treatment.

Whether vulvar itching can resolve on its own depends on the specific circumstances. If it is only caused by local irritation, it may resolve spontaneously; however, if the itching is caused by an underlying disease, it may not resolve without treatment.
Vulvar itching caused by local irritation, such as wearing tight synthetic underwear or using irritating sanitary products, may resolve on its own if the irritants are removed, especially if the itching is mild. For example, switching to loose-fitting cotton underwear, discontinuing the use of irritating sanitary products, and maintaining cleanliness and dryness of the vulva may lead to symptom relief within several days to a week.
However, itching caused by inflammatory conditions such as vulvitis or vaginitis typically will not resolve without intervention, as the presence of pathogens perpetuates the inflammation and irritation. For example, in cases of fungal vaginitis caused by Candida infection, failure to use antifungal medications allows the Candida to continue multiplying, making the itching difficult to alleviate. This type of itching usually requires visiting a正规 hospital for routine vaginal discharge testing and following medical advice for pharmacological treatment, such as using An'eer Fujetian Liquid, Miconazole Nitrate Suppository, Clotrimazole Suppository, etc., to eliminate the underlying cause and relieve symptoms.
If vulvar itching persists or worsens, prompt medical attention is necessary to identify the underlying cause and initiate targeted treatment to avoid disease progression.
