What is Estradiol?
I saw an item for estradiol in my physical examination report and don't quite understand it. What is it? What problems could arise if the value is abnormal? I would also like to know how to maintain normal levels in daily life?

Estradiol is a primary female sex hormone and a type of estrogen. Its main source in the female body is the ovary, while during pregnancy it is produced by the placenta.
Estradiol is one of the important hormones secreted by the ovaries and is also considered the most important sex hormone secreted by the ovaries. Estradiol is secreted by the granulosa cells within ovarian follicles, and its metabolites include estrone and estriol. Its target organs are the uterus, vagina, fallopian tubes, and pituitary gland. Estradiol also participates in regulating the menstrual cycle, affects bone density, has protective effects on the cardiovascular system, and plays a certain role in cognitive function.
Estradiol is also an important indicator in the testing of gonadal hormones. It has strong estrogenic activity and exerts significant physiological effects. The normal levels of estradiol fluctuate with the menstrual cycle; the normal range for adult women during the follicular phase is 91.75-275.25 pmol/L. Abnormally high or low levels may be associated with certain diseases or physiological conditions.
Blood levels of estradiol can be measured through blood tests to evaluate reproductive health and monitor the effectiveness of treatment for certain diseases.
