Dr. Zhang Lu

Rupture of the amniotic membranes may present symptoms such as vaginal fluid leakage, presence of fetal sebum or meconium, abdominal pain, changes in fetal movement, and signs of infection.

1. Vaginal fluid leakage: Pregnant women may suddenly feel a warm liquid flowing from the vagina. This fluid is usually clear and transparent, sometimes slightly yellow.

2. Presence of fetal sebum or meconium: In the amniotic fluid, pregnant women may sometimes see white particles of fetal sebum or yellow-green meconium.

3. Abdominal pain: After rupture of the amniotic membranes, the fetus loses the protective and cushioning effects of the amniotic fluid, which may directly stimulate the uterine wall, leading to uterine contractions and resulting in abdominal pain.

4. Changes in fetal movement: After rupture of the amniotic membranes, the fetus's movement space becomes restricted, and fetal movements may become less noticeable or weakened.

5. Signs of infection: After rupture of the amniotic membranes, the uterus becomes connected to the outside environment, allowing bacteria to invade and cause infection. Pregnant women may experience symptoms such as fever and sweating, possibly accompanied by increased vaginal discharge and an unpleasant odor.

If these symptoms occur, the woman should immediately lie down flat and avoid standing or walking. At the same time, she should seek medical attention at a hospital as soon as possible to ensure the safety of both mother and baby.
