How to deal with severe constipation in a 10-month-old baby?
Our ten-month-old baby has severe constipation symptoms, characterized by difficulty in defecation and dry, hard stools, which has caused us great anxiety. We are seeking effective solutions.

Severe constipation in a 10-month-old baby is usually related to dietary composition, insufficient water intake, or gastrointestinal system development. It can be relieved through dietary adjustments, physical therapy, medication, and other measures.
Parents should adjust the baby's eating habits and appropriately introduce complementary foods, such as vegetable puree and fruit puree, to increase dietary fiber intake and promote intestinal peristalsis. At the same time, ensure the baby receives sufficient water intake; feeding small amounts of warm water frequently can help soften stools and facilitate their passage.
Abdominal massage can also be performed on the baby. Gently massaging the baby's abdomen in a clockwise direction around the navel can help stimulate intestinal peristalsis and relieve constipation. In addition, applying heat can accelerate blood circulation and enhance gastrointestinal motility. However, the duration of heat application should not be too long, generally around 15 to 20 minutes.
If dietary adjustments and physical treatments are ineffective, parents may, under a doctor's guidance, administer medications such as probiotics or live combined Bacillus subtilis and Bifidobacterium lactis granules to regulate the intestinal flora and promote digestion and absorption of nutrients. If necessary, medications such as glycerin suppositories may also be used to assist the baby with bowel movements. However, please note that medication should only be used under the guidance of a doctor to avoid misuse.
If after implementing the above measures for a period of time the baby's constipation does not improve, or if symptoms such as abdominal pain and vomiting occur, seek medical attention immediately.
