How to Alleviate Morning Sickness During Pregnancy
Since becoming pregnant, I have been experiencing frequent episodes of morning sickness. I've lost several pounds and feel very weak. I'd like to know if there are any effective ways to alleviate pregnancy-related nausea?
Morning sickness is a common symptom experienced by many pregnant women in early pregnancy, typically starting around week 6 of pregnancy and gradually subsiding by weeks 12 to 14.
Eating small, frequent meals is an effective way to alleviate morning sickness. It is recommended to choose bland, easily digestible foods such as soda crackers and fresh fruits. Avoid greasy, spicy, and irritating foods, as they may worsen nausea.
Maintain adequate fluid intake, but avoid drinking large amounts of water at once; instead, drink fluids in small amounts throughout the day. Ensure sufficient rest and sleep, and avoid excessive fatigue. Using refreshing scents such as lemon or mint may sometimes help relieve nausea.
Mild exercise, such as walking or prenatal yoga, can aid digestion and help alleviate morning sickness. If symptoms interfere with normal daily activities, vitamin B6 or other medications may be taken under a doctor's guidance.
Maintain a positive mood and avoid stress and anxiety. Listening to relaxing music, practicing yoga, or meditation may help. If morning sickness is accompanied by dehydration, rapid weight loss, or other concerning symptoms, seek medical attention promptly.
