Depression Onset Symptoms
A friend of mine has depression and had improved significantly, but he has recently experienced another episode of low mood. We are unsure whether this is a relapse of depression. Could you please tell us what are the symptoms of a depressive episode?

The onset symptoms of depression include low mood, loss of interest, slowed thinking, reduced volitional activity, and impaired cognitive function.
1. Low mood: Patients experience明显 and persistent emotional depression, pessimism, and despair, which may occur without any obvious cause.
2. Loss of interest: Patients lose interest in activities they previously enjoyed, no longer derive pleasure from them, and may even find daily life monotonous.
3. Slowed thinking: Patients' speech, speaking speed, and responses all slow down; they feel that their mind is not functioning efficiently and their reactions are delayed.
4. Reduced volitional activity: Clinically表现为 slowed behavior, passive and sluggish lifestyle, lack of motivation to move, perform tasks, go out, or work.
5. Impaired cognitive function: This includes memory loss, attention deficits, prolonged reaction time, and learning difficulties. These impairments may affect patients' judgment and decision-making abilities, causing difficulties in daily life.
These symptoms may also overlap with other diseases or conditions. Therefore, if you suspect that you or someone else may have depression, it is important to seek timely medical attention for professional evaluation and treatment.
