What are the symptoms of postpartum rheumatism?
A friend of mine recently gave birth and is now experiencing joint pain. We are unsure whether this might be symptoms of postpartum rheumatism. Could you please tell us, Doctor, what are the symptoms of postpartum rheumatism?

Postpartum rheumatism presents symptoms such as joint pain, joint stiffness, muscle aches, sensitivity to cold or wind, and excessive or night sweats.
1. Joint Pain: Postpartum rheumatism often manifests as pain in the joints throughout the body, especially in the hands and feet. The intensity of pain varies and may or may not be accompanied by lower back pain.
2. Joint Stiffness: Some women may experience joint stiffness upon waking in the morning, known as morning stiffness, which can gradually improve with activity. This is also a common symptom of postpartum rheumatism.
3. Muscle Aches: Postpartum rheumatism can cause discomfort such as muscle pain and numbness, similar to persistent fatigue or discomfort following overuse.
4. Sensitivity to Cold or Wind: Women suffering from postpartum rheumatism often feel more sensitive to cold or wind than usual and may need to wear warmer clothing even in summer to stay warm.
5. Excessive or Night Sweats: Patients with postpartum rheumatism may experience excessive sweating at night, known as night sweats, which are associated with physical weakness and autonomic nervous system imbalance.
Patients experiencing these symptoms are advised to seek timely medical consultation and receive targeted treatment.
