The time for menstrual recovery after childbirth varies individually, but generally, menstruation resumes around 6-8 weeks postpartum. For breastfeeding mothers, the influence of prolactin may delay the return of menstruation; some women may not resume menstruation until 1-2 months after complete weaning.

The timing of menstrual recovery is closely related to the feeding method. Women who use formula feeding usually resume menstruation between 6-10 weeks postpartum, whereas women who exclusively breastfeed may experience a later return of menstruation, which may not resume until after the breastfeeding period ends or after they stop nursing.

During the period of menstrual recovery after childbirth, women should take contraceptive measures, especially those who are breastfeeding, as hormonal changes may cause irregular menstruation, yet pregnancy is still possible. At the same time, postpartum women should ensure adequate rest, proper nutrition, and monitor physical changes.

If menstruation has not resumed within six months postpartum for non-breastfeeding women, or two months after weaning for breastfeeding women, it is recommended to consult a doctor to rule out other health issues. Regular postpartum follow-up examinations are important to monitor one's health status and promptly identify and address any related issues.
