Does Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan raise blood pressure?
I've been taking Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan (a traditional Chinese medicine) due to physical weakness. However, my recent blood pressure readings seem slightly higher than before. Is this a coincidence, or can Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan actually cause an increase in blood pressure?

Under normal circumstances, Buzhong Yiqi Pills do not elevate blood pressure.
Buzhong Yiqi Pill is a traditional Chinese medicine preparation primarily composed of processed Astragalus (Huangqi), Codonopsis (Dangshen), Atractylodes (Baizhu), Angelica (Danggui), and other herbal ingredients. It functions to replenish middle-jiao qi, invigorate yang, and lift sunken organs, and is commonly used to treat symptoms such as spleen and stomach weakness and prolapse due to qi deficiency. From a pharmacological perspective, these ingredients mainly exert tonic effects and do not directly affect the blood pressure regulatory system.
When using Buzhong Yiqi Pills, appropriate dosage should be selected according to the patient's specific condition and constitution to avoid unnecessary side effects such as excessive internal heat, gastrointestinal discomfort, allergic reactions, and potential liver or kidney dysfunction. Therefore, patients should strictly follow medical instructions when taking this medication, especially those with hypertension, who should use it under the guidance of a qualified physician and regularly monitor blood pressure changes to ensure safe and effective treatment.
In daily life, patients should also enhance their awareness of self-care, pay attention to lifestyle modifications, avoid excessive fatigue and emotional fluctuations, maintain healthy habits, and promote stable blood pressure.
