What should not be eaten during menstruation
Every time I get my period, my stomach hurts a lot. Recently, I heard that diet during menstruation requires special attention, but I'm not exactly sure what I should be careful about. I usually enjoy cold drinks and spicy food. I'd like to ask, what foods should be avoided during menstruation?

Spicy and stimulating foods, raw and cold foods, high-salt foods, greasy foods, caffeine, and alcohol generally should be avoided during menstruation.
Spicy and stimulating foods, such as chili peppers and ginger, should be avoided as much as possible, as they may worsen abdominal discomfort and pain during menstruation. According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, cold foods may affect blood circulation, leading to poor menstrual blood discharge and increasing the risk of dysmenorrhea. Excessive sodium intake may cause water retention, worsening possible menstrual symptoms such as edema.
Fatty and hard-to-digest foods should also not be consumed in excess, as they may increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract and affect the body's absorption of other nutrients. The caffeine and alcohol content in coffee, strong tea, and alcoholic beverages may affect the stability of the nervous system, cause mood swings, and potentially worsen menstrual headaches and insomnia.
A balanced diet plays an important role in relieving menstrual discomfort and promoting health. It is recommended to consume more foods rich in iron, vitamins, and fiber, such as leafy vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean meats during menstruation to help replenish nutrients and maintain a good physical condition.
