Can I jump rope if I have hemorrhoids?
I have hemorrhoids and have recently wanted to exercise, so I was thinking about jumping rope. However, I'm worried that jumping rope might worsen my hemorrhoids. Therefore, I'd like to ask: can I jump rope if I have hemorrhoids?

In general, whether individuals with hemorrhoids can engage in rope skipping mainly depends on the specific condition. If the hemorrhoids are mild, rope skipping is usually permissible. However, if the hemorrhoids are severe, rope skipping is not recommended.
Hemorrhoids are a condition caused by factors such as downward displacement of the anal cushions and varicose veins, mainly manifesting as symptoms including rectal bleeding, pain, and protrusion of tissue. During the stable phase of the disease, patients with mild to moderate hemorrhoids can improve local blood circulation in the anal area and enhance the function of the anal sphincter through appropriate physical exercise, thereby helping to alleviate symptoms and prevent further progression of the condition. However, excessively strenuous exercise may increase abdominal pressure and place additional strain on the anal area, which could be detrimental to hemorrhoids, so exercise should be performed in moderation.
For patients with severe hemorrhoids or those with significant complications, such as severe prolapse or intense pain, strenuous activities like rope skipping should be avoided. At this stage, patients should focus on rest, avoid increasing abdominal pressure, and actively follow the treatment plan recommended by their physician to promote recovery.
Before and after exercising, patients are advised to perform adequate warm-up and cool-down routines, wear appropriate soft-soled shoes to reduce ground reaction forces, and maintain good bowel habits, avoiding prolonged sitting and excessive straining during bowel movements, all of which can help prevent recurrence of hemorrhoids.
