Postoperative Care for Double Eyelid Surgery
I just had double eyelid surgery, and I feel both nervous and uncertain. I'm especially worried that improper post-operative care might affect the recovery and leave me with regrets. I'd like to know what precautions should be taken after double eyelid surgery.

After double eyelid surgery, one should generally pay attention to proper rest, avoid strenuous exercise, adjust diet, apply cold and warm compresses, and use medications as instructed.
Adequate rest should be ensured after surgery, especially during the first two days. Keeping the head elevated with additional pillows can help reduce swelling. Strenuous activities such as running and fitness training should be avoided for the first few weeks after surgery, as these may increase pressure and swelling around the eyes.
A light diet is recommended after surgery, avoiding spicy and irritating foods, and alcohol should be strictly avoided to minimize irritation to the wound. Cold compresses should be applied for the first three days after surgery to reduce exudation and swelling, followed by warm compresses after three days to promote absorption of edema. It is important not to apply cold or warm compresses for too long each time and to avoid excessively high temperatures that may cause burns.
As advised by the physician, antibiotic eye ointment may be used to prevent infection. Apply the ointment as directed, without excessive pressure. Postoperative oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications may be taken as recommended by the doctor to prevent infection and promote wound healing.
Maintaining a positive mindset and avoiding excessive anxiety or irritability is important, as emotional stress may negatively affect recovery. If discomfort occurs, prompt medical attention is advised.
