Can you eat pomelo on a ketogenic diet?
I am 22 years old this year. I have recently tried the ketogenic diet and would like to know whether grapefruit can be consumed on a ketogenic diet.

In general, grapefruit can be consumed on a ketogenic diet, but in moderation. The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, low-carbohydrate, and moderate-protein eating plan designed to shift the body's metabolism into a state of ketosis, where fat rather than carbohydrates becomes the primary source of energy.
Grapefruit is a low-calorie, high-fiber fruit rich in vitamin C, flavonoids, and other antioxidant compounds, as well as minerals like potassium. Grapefruit also contains a certain amount of carbohydrates, primarily in the form of fructose and glucose. Although its carbohydrate content is relatively low, it should still be consumed in moderation, as excessive intake may affect ketosis. Grapefruit has a relatively low glycemic index (GI), meaning it has a smaller impact on blood sugar levels and is less likely to cause significant fluctuations in blood glucose, which helps maintain ketosis.
Individual responses and metabolic reactions vary, so adjustments should be made according to personal tolerance when consuming grapefruit. If ketosis appears to be affected or adverse symptoms occur after eating grapefruit, it is advisable to reduce the intake or stop consumption altogether. While following a ketogenic diet, regular monitoring of ketone levels can help determine whether the body remains in a state of ketosis. If ketone levels drop or become unstable, dietary adjustments—including grapefruit consumption—may be necessary.
