Can I eat sausage after intestinal polyp surgery?
I am 35 years old and recently underwent surgery for intestinal polyps. I would like to know whether I can eat sausages after the surgery.

Under normal circumstances, it is not recommended to consume sausage too early after intestinal polyp surgery.
Sausage typically contains a high amount of additives, salt, and nitrites, as well as high levels of fat and cholesterol. These components may irritate the intestinal mucosa and be detrimental to postoperative recovery. Additionally, sausage is considered a spicy, greasy, and hard-to-digest food; consuming it shortly after surgery may increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract and affect the recovery of intestinal function.
After intestinal polyp surgery, patients should follow a light, easily digestible diet and avoid spicy, greasy, and irritating foods. It is recommended that patients consume mainly liquid or semi-liquid foods, such as rice porridge, noodles, and steamed egg custard, in the first few days following surgery. As intestinal function gradually recovers, the variety and quantity of food can be increased accordingly.
If patients wish to consume sausage during the recovery period after surgery, it is recommended to wait until the wound has largely healed and intestinal function has recovered well. Sausage should be consumed in moderation, and patients should closely monitor their body's response. If any discomfort occurs, consumption should be stopped immediately and medical advice should be sought.
