I've had a problem with my eyes recently. When I look at things, there's always a small black spot moving around in my field of vision. I originally thought it would go away in a few days, but it never disappeared. What's going on?

Black spots appearing in the eyes may be caused by excessive eye use, corneal foreign bodies, or floaters. If any physical discomfort occurs, it is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital promptly and follow the doctor's instructions for treatment.

Excessive eye strain may lead to vitreous opacity, resulting in black spots. Patients should rest adequately, avoid overusing their eyes, and use medications such as sodium hyaluronate eye drops under a doctor's guidance. Small insects, dust particles, or other foreign materials entering the cornea may also cause black spots. In such cases, patients should seek immediate medical attention to have the foreign body removed and use anti-infective eye drops, such as levofloxacin eye drops.

Black spots commonly appearing in the eyes are medically referred to as floaters, a common visual phenomenon that is mostly harmless. Floaters are associated with changes in the vitreous inside the eye. Harmless floaters generally do not require special treatment, and most people gradually adapt to their presence. For cases where floaters severely affect quality of life, vitreoretinal surgery, such as vitrectomy, may be considered to remove the materials causing the floaters.

Maintaining good lifestyle habits and undergoing regular eye examinations are also important for preventing and detecting eye diseases at an early stage.
