In general, blueberry lutein has positive effects on eye health, primarily by protecting the retina, providing antioxidant effects, improving vision, and relieving eye fatigue. However, maintaining eye health should involve a comprehensive approach that includes scientific eye usage and medical interventions.

Blueberry lutein is highly concentrated in the macular region of the retina. Its molecular structure specifically absorbs blue light, forming an optical filtering barrier that reduces direct damage to the photoreceptor cells in the macular region caused by high-energy blue light. Daily supplementation with blueberry lutein can significantly slow the decline in macular pigment optical density. By scavenging reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated from retinal metabolism, blueberry lutein reduces oxidative stress and maintains the stability of the macular microenvironment. A deficiency in blueberry lutein can lead to a more than threefold increase in retinal lipid peroxidation products.

However, it's important to note that blueberry lutein cannot cure existing myopia or other eye diseases. It does not alter the axial length of the eye and therefore cannot directly treat myopia. Additionally, although blueberry lutein offers multiple benefits for eye health, it does not mean it can be consumed without limits. It is recommended to supplement it appropriately under the guidance of a doctor or nutritionist to avoid potential adverse effects from excessive intake.
