Can face masks help remove acne marks?
I am 21 years old this year. I used to have acne that left scars, and I would like to know whether applying face masks can help remove acne scars.

In general, applying face masks can assist in lightening acne marks to some extent, but they are unlikely to remove them completely, and comprehensive treatment combining other methods is required.
The effectiveness of face masks in lightening acne marks mainly depends on their ingredients and functions. Masks containing specific ingredients, such as niacinamide, vitamin C, arbutin, or hyaluronic acid, may help reduce pigmentation, moisturize the skin, or promote skin repair, thereby improving acne marks to some extent. Medical masks may also have anti-inflammatory effects, reduce swelling, and promote wound healing, which can aid in diminishing acne marks.
However, the effectiveness of face masks in lightening acne marks is limited and varies from person to person. Acne marks are caused by complex factors, including tissue damage from inflammatory acne and melanin deposition. Simply using face masks is unlikely to completely eliminate acne marks. More severe acne marks may require professional treatments such as laser therapy or chemical peels.
When selecting face masks, it is important to choose products suitable for one's skin type to avoid worsening skin issues due to improper use. Furthermore, applying face masks is only an auxiliary method in the process of treating acne marks; it should be combined with good lifestyle habits, skin cleansing, and other skincare measures for comprehensive skin care and treatment.
