What is an imaging examination?
Disease description:
I’m not very familiar with angiography. For what conditions is angiography performed, and what exactly does “angiography” mean?
Angiography is a diagnostic imaging procedure that uses iodized oil contrast medium to visualize blood vessels. During the procedure, the contrast agent is injected into the blood vessels; because the contrast medium is radiopaque (i.e., it blocks X-rays), it enables clear visualization of vascular abnormalities on X-ray images. This technique is primarily used to diagnose and guide treatment for various vascular diseases. It is essential to undergo angiography at a reputable, accredited medical facility.
