What Is Spinal Shock?
Disease description:
A person in the neighboring household has become paralyzed in the lower limbs, reportedly due to spinal shock. What exactly is spinal shock?
Spinal shock refers to paralysis resulting from spinal cord injury. The specific prognosis depends on the severity of the condition: in some cases, it is temporary—lasting approximately two weeks—and gradual recovery may occur. However, in more severe cases—such as those involving structural (organic) damage—recovery is significantly more difficult and permanent sequelae are likely.
