How is global aphasia treated?
Disease description:
It’s been a long time since I last saw my friend’s child. Today, upon meeting, I found the child has developed global aphasia—previously, the child was able to speak. I’m truly worried about the child. Could you please advise on how global aphasia is treated?
In the treatment of global aphasia, rehabilitation therapy is typically employed. For instance, parents can teach their children how to articulate sounds—such as through exercises like blowing out candles or whistling—to strengthen oral-motor control and articulatory power. Subsequently, vocabulary development is gradually introduced, beginning with single words, progressing to short phrases, and eventually advancing to longer sentences—thereby enhancing the child’s ability to produce continuous speech. Visual aids (e.g., pictures) or real-life objects may also be incorporated into these training sessions to support recovery.
