The etiology of colonic lipomas remains unclear but may be associated with physical inactivity, insufficient exercise, high-fat diets, and excessive intake of cholesterol-rich foods. Small colonic lipomas are often asymptomatic, whereas larger ones may cause changes in bowel habits, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, or intussusception; occasionally, a palpable abdominal mass may be detected. Patients diagnosed with colonic lipoma must seek treatment as early as possible and actively cooperate with their physicians’ management plan.
