Is it concerning if a child’s eosinophil count is zero?
Disease description:
During a physical examination, one of my son’s routine blood test parameters showed a value of 0 for a certain cell type. May I ask: Is it concerning if a child’s eosinophil count is zero?
An eosinophil count of zero indicates the absence of eosinophils in the blood. In most cases, this has minimal impact on overall health and may result from recent exposure to cold pathogens (e.g., common cold), anemia, or systemic inflammation. It is recommended to maintain a balanced diet rich in nutrients, ensure adequate rest, avoid overexertion, and closely monitor the child for any signs of discomfort. Additionally, keep warm to prevent chilling and drink plenty of water.
