Digitalis glycosides are commonly used cardiovascular medications, primarily indicated for the treatment of heart failure and certain cardiac arrhythmias—such as supraventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation—with generally favorable efficacy. However, these drugs carry a significant risk of toxicity, particularly in the setting of hypokalemia; therefore, potassium supplementation should be appropriately administered when diuretics are used. If symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or yellow-green visual disturbances occur, drug administration must be discontinued immediately, and prompt medical evaluation and treatment should be sought.
