In general, dehydration in pregnant women may have certain effects on the fetus. If a pregnant woman becomes dehydrated, the fetus may also experience dehydration, which can affect metabolic processes in the body. Dehydration during pregnancy may lead to oligohydramnios (low amniotic fluid), increasing the risk of fetal hypoxia. In severe cases, this may result in fetal malformations or even miscarriage.

Generally, dehydration in pregnant women may have certain effects on the fetus.

If a pregnant woman becomes dehydrated, it may lead to fetal dehydration as well, affecting the body's metabolism. Moreover, maternal dehydration may cause abnormal immune function, making bacterial infections more likely and potentially leading to symptoms of urinary tract infections, which can negatively impact fetal development, resulting in delayed growth or congenital malformations. In addition, dehydration in pregnant women may lead to oligohydramnios (low amniotic fluid), increasing the risk of fetal hypoxia. In severe cases, this may result in fetal malformations or even miscarriage.

To address dehydration during pregnancy, women should increase their fluid intake or consume more water-rich fruits high in vitamins, such as apples, oranges, and kiwis, which help provide adequate hydration and prevent symptoms like dry or dull skin. It is also important to avoid drinking cold water to prevent abdominal pain or gastrointestinal spasms.
