Why do I feel nauseous after eating breakfast?
Nausea during breakfast may be caused by pregnancy-related reactions or diseases such as gastric ulcer or cholecystitis.
1. Pregnancy-related reaction
If a woman of childbearing age experiences this symptom, has had sexual intercourse, and her menstrual period is delayed by more than ten days, the nausea when eating breakfast could be due to hormonal changes associated with pregnancy. This condition, known as morning sickness, may also be accompanied by symptoms such as drowsiness and fatigue.
2. Gastric ulcer
Under normal circumstances, gastric glands secrete gastric acid during meals to aid digestion. However, if a person has a gastric ulcer, the gastric acid may irritate the ulcerated area of the stomach lining, causing nausea when eating breakfast. This may also be accompanied by abnormal symptoms such as abdominal pain and bloating.
3. Cholecystitis
Cholecystitis often impairs digestive function, which may lead to nausea when eating breakfast. The nausea tends to be particularly noticeable after consuming greasy or fatty foods.
