Can you sit down immediately after exercising?
You should not sit down immediately after exercising.
After exercise, you should not rest by sitting down right away; instead, wait about 30 minutes before sitting to rest. This is because the body remains in an excited state after physical activity. Sitting down too soon may hinder blood return from the lower limbs, affecting circulation and potentially causing fatigue, muscle soreness, nausea, or vomiting. In severe cases, it could lead to myocardial ischemia, cerebral hypoxia, or even shock. Therefore, after exercising, it's better to engage in slow walking to help relax the muscles, or walk slowly for about half an hour. This can reduce lactic acid buildup. Alternatively, getting a massage after exercise can accelerate muscle relaxation.
In daily life, ensure adequate rest and avoid overexertion. Before exercising, perform warm-up activities to help loosen and relax your muscles.
