Symptoms of a forearm strain
Forearm strain typically presents with symptoms such as localized pain, swelling, and limited movement. The specific condition depends on the severity of the forearm injury.
1. Localized Pain
When the forearm muscles are strained, there is usually noticeable pain at the site, which worsens during exertion or movement.
2. Swelling
A forearm strain often causes local leakage of tissue fluid. The accumulation of this fluid in the affected area leads to swelling—the greater the fluid leakage, the more severe the swelling.
3. Limited Movement
If the forearm strain results in significant pain or swelling, patients may avoid using the arm due to discomfort, leading to restricted mobility.
In more severe cases of forearm strain where blood vessels are damaged, bruising may occur, causing the overlying skin to turn purplish-blue. If symptoms are severe, it's recommended to seek timely medical evaluation and follow professional advice for treatment, which may include local immobilization, medication, or surgical intervention.
