Introduction
A small pulse pressure (narrow pulse pressure) may be related to factors such as increased peripheral vascular resistance, endocrine disorders, and hypertension. It is necessary to go to the hospital for evaluation. In addition, heart diseases can also cause a reduced pulse pressure. If the pulse pressure is significantly low, treatment should be sought at a reputable cardiology department. In daily life, ensure adequate rest and avoid fatigue, anxiety, and other negative emotions.

A small pulse pressure (narrow pulse pressure) may be associated with increased peripheral vascular resistance, endocrine disorders, hypertension, and other factors.

1. Increased Peripheral Vascular Resistance

During diastole, as blood flows from the aorta into the periphery, a significant amount of blood may remain in the aorta. If the patient's systolic blood pressure does not change significantly, the pulse pressure will decrease. Medications that dilate peripheral small blood vessels—such as nitroglycerin patches or pancreatinase enteric-coated tablets—can be used to reduce the volume of blood in the large vessels.

2. Endocrine Disorders

Conditions such as excessive obesity, increased blood viscosity, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia may also lead to reduced pulse pressure. It is recommended to visit a hospital for evaluation to identify the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.

3. Hypertension

In younger and middle-aged hypertensive patients, the arterial walls typically retain good elasticity. During cardiac diastole, a large volume of blood is stored in the arteries, which can result in lower diastolic pressure and thus a smaller pulse pressure. For younger and middle-aged hypertensive patients with this characteristic, ARB-class medications such as losartan potassium tablets or valsartan capsules may be prescribed under medical supervision to manage blood pressure.

In addition, heart diseases can also cause a small pulse pressure. Patients with persistently low pulse pressure should seek evaluation and treatment at a reputable cardiology department. It is also important to get adequate rest and avoid fatigue and negative emotions such as anxiety.
