Can you use air conditioning if you have a high fever?
Fever generally refers to an elevated body temperature. It is acceptable to use air conditioning when it's too hot, but prolonged use should be avoided.
When experiencing fever, the body contains excess heat. Using air conditioning moderately can help dissipate heat and support recovery, typically without causing the condition to worsen or relapse. However, extended exposure to air conditioning should be avoided. Fever can arise from various causes, and during fever, pores may open up. If cold air blows directly on the body for a long time under such conditions, it may allow cold pathogens to enter the body, potentially aggravating the illness.
When running air conditioning during a fever, ensure the temperature setting is neither too high nor too low. A recommended room temperature is generally between 24–26°C. Try to maintain a stable, moderate indoor environment and avoid sudden shifts between hot and cold, as fluctuating temperatures may adversely affect the body. It’s important to cool down promptly when experiencing fever.
