How to relieve pain at the back of the head after a fever
Fever refers to an elevated body temperature. Headaches at the back of the head following fever can be relieved through rest, massage, and medication.
1. Rest
If headache at the back of the head is caused by fever due to inadequate rest, it is recommended to alleviate the headache by getting proper rest. Choose a quiet and comfortable environment, close your eyes, relax your body, and allow your head to fully rest.
2. Massage
If the back of the head has suffered external impact due to lack of protection after developing a fever, gently massaging the head with fingers—especially the temples and neck—may help relieve the headache.
3. Medication
In cases of viral infections such as the common cold or influenza, headaches during fever may result from congestion of blood vessels in the skull. Under a doctor's guidance, pain relievers such as ibuprofen sustained-release capsules may be used.
In addition, applying heat therapy can also provide relief. Using a warm towel or hot water bottle on the head helps relax head muscles and ease pain at the back of the head. If the headache is severe or persists for a prolonged period, medical attention should be sought promptly to determine the underlying cause and receive appropriate treatment.
