What is the procedure for cervical polyp surgery?
The procedure for cervical polyp surgery includes disinfection, surgical removal, and hemostasis.
1. Disinfection
Prior to surgery, a speculum is used to open the vagina, and the vulva and vaginal areas are disinfected. The size and location of the polyp are also examined at this time.
2. Surgical Removal
If the polyp is small and located at the external cervical os, it can be directly grasped and removed using a cervical clamp or oval forceps. If the polyp is larger, hysteroscopic electrocautery or a self-sealing knife (autocoagulation device) is required for its removal.
3. Hemostasis
After surgery, if the wound surface is small and bleeding is minimal, compression with gauze is sufficient for hemostasis. However, if the wound is large and bleeding is significant, suturing is necessary to control bleeding.
After cervical polyp surgery, adequate rest is important. Patients should avoid sexual intercourse too early and maintain local cleanliness and hygiene to prevent infection and ensure proper recovery.
