Introduction
In early pregnancy, a pulsating sensation in the lower abdomen may be caused by physiological factors or pathological conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease or threatened miscarriage. During early pregnancy, the fetus grows rapidly, which may stimulate the uterus to enlarge accordingly, leading to local congestion and increased blood flow. As a result, a pulsating sensation in the lower abdomen may occur with the pulse.

Pounding or rhythmic sensations in the lower abdomen during early pregnancy may be caused by physiological factors, or they could result from pathological conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease or threatened miscarriage. The details are as follows:

1. Physiological Factors

The abdominal aorta normally runs through the human abdomen. During early pregnancy, the fetus grows rapidly, which may stimulate the uterus to enlarge and lead to local congestion and increased blood flow. If the pregnant woman is thin with little abdominal fat, she may feel a pounding sensation in the lower abdomen when the pulse beats. This is considered a normal phenomenon.

2. Pathological Factors

1) Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)

During pregnancy, a woman's immune system naturally weakens to prevent rejection of the fetus, resulting in decreased resistance. If personal hygiene is neglected, bacteria may enter the vagina, altering its internal environment, leading to bacterial overgrowth and inflammatory reactions, which may cause pelvic inflammatory disease. Severe pelvic congestion and persistent stimulation of the peritoneum by inflammatory factors can lead to local adhesions and produce the aforementioned symptoms. It is recommended to maintain good personal hygiene. Avoid self-medication, which might harm fetal health. If symptoms are severe, medical attention should be sought for appropriate treatment.

2) Threatened Miscarriage

In early pregnancy, fetal development is relatively unstable. If the pregnant woman frequently consumes alcohol or is exposed to chemical substances for prolonged periods, harmful components may pass through the placenta into the fetal body, causing abnormal stimulation, delayed fetal development, and potentially triggering threatened miscarriage. Frequent uterine contractions associated with this condition may also produce the described sensation. It is recommended to follow medical advice for fetal preservation treatments using medications such as dydrogesterone tablets or progesterone capsules. If fetal abnormalities are confirmed, termination of pregnancy may be considered early.

Besides the above, ectopic pregnancy could also be a possible cause. It is important to ensure adequate rest and improve unhealthy dietary habits in daily life.
