Itchy upper lip with numerous tiny bumps
Itching of the upper lip accompanied by numerous tiny granules may be caused by conditions such as contact cheilitis, ectopic sebaceous glands, or labial herpes, and timely medical treatment at a hospital is necessary. Specific causes are as follows:
1. Contact Cheilitis
This may be triggered by allergens such as eating mangoes or using lipstick, leading to allergic reactions in the lip mucosa, resulting in red rashes and itching. Treatment may include medications like levofloxacin hydrochloride capsules or amoxicillin capsules, taken according to medical advice.
2. Ectopic Sebaceous Glands
This condition may be related to hormonal levels or trauma, potentially causing skin irritation, white papules, and pain. Topical treatments such as tretinoin cream or fusidic acid cream may be used under medical guidance.
3. Labial Herpes
This typically refers to a skin disorder occurring at the junction of the oral skin and mucous membranes, which may lead to tissue lesions in the mouth, causing clusters of small bumps, redness, and swelling. Medications such as Liu Shen Wan (Six God Pills) or metronidazole buccal tablets may be used under a doctor's direction.
In addition to the above causes, similar symptoms may also result from glandular cheilitis, herpes zoster, or hand-foot-and-mouth disease. Avoid scratching with hands and maintain local cleanliness.
