Introduction
Armpit refers to the axilla. Brown patches under the armpit with dry skin may be caused by factors such as hyperpigmentation, endocrine disorders, or pityriasis versicolor, and treatment should be based on the specific cause. Besides these reasons, conditions like seborrheic keratosis, acanthosis nigricans, or tinea corporis could also be responsible. It is important to wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably made of cotton.

Armpit refers to the axilla. Brown patches under the armpit with dry skin may be caused by factors such as hyperpigmentation, endocrine disorders, or pityriasis versicolor, and treatment should be based on the specific cause. Details are as follows:

1. Hyperpigmentation

This may be caused by ultraviolet radiation, dermatitis, or other reasons. It commonly affects the face and may lead to the development of spots. Treatment may include topical medications such as hydroquinone cream, tretinoin cream, or asiaticoside ointment, used under a doctor's guidance.

2. Endocrine Disorders

This generally refers to imbalances in various hormones due to disrupted feedback regulation mechanisms, leading to a series of metabolic abnormalities. Symptoms may include pigmentation, excessive hair growth, and dry skin. Medications such as Zhenyuan tablets or methylprednisolone tablets may be used under medical supervision.

3. Pityriasis Versicolor

This condition may be related to fungal infections, environmental factors, and poor lifestyle habits. The pathogen invades the stratum corneum of the skin, causing superficial infection and resulting in the aforementioned symptoms. Topical treatments such as miconazole nitrate cream or bifonazole cream can be applied under a doctor’s guidance.

In addition to the above causes, similar symptoms may also result from seborrheic keratosis, acanthosis nigricans, or tinea corporis. It is recommended to wear loose, comfortable clothing, preferably made of cotton.
