Introduction
In general, a stye refers to hordeolum. In mild cases, when there is only slight redness and swelling around the eye without pus formation, warm compresses and erythromycin ointment can be used. In daily life, it is important to develop the habit of frequent hand washing, avoid rubbing the eyes, control the duration of eye use, adjust eye usage posture, maintain a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and ensure sufficient sleep.

Generally, a stye refers to hordeolum. In mild cases, when there is only slight redness and swelling around the eye without formation of pus, warm compresses and erythromycin can be used.

When symptoms of hordeolum are mild and no abscess has formed yet, warm compresses serve as an effective supportive treatment that helps accelerate local blood circulation, promote resolution of inflammation, and facilitate absorption of pus. Methods for warm compresses include steam compresses, warm damp towels, or heated eye masks. A clean warm towel or hot water bag can be gently applied to the affected area. Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic effective against most Gram-positive bacteria and some Gram-negative bacteria, making it suitable for treating bacterial infections causing hordeolum. An appropriate amount of erythromycin eye ointment or topical cream can be applied gently with the fingertip to the inflamed area to control infection and promote resolution of inflammation. However, if the hordeolum has progressed to form a clear abscess or has ruptured into an open wound, direct warm compresses and application of erythromycin may not be recommended, as they could worsen inflammation or lead to premature rupture of the abscess.

In daily life, maintain good hygiene by washing hands frequently, avoid rubbing the eyes, manage screen time, adjust eye-use posture, eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly, and ensure sufficient sleep.
