Introduction
For neonatal eczema, maintain appropriate indoor temperature and humidity, and avoid using strongly irritating bath products on infants and young children. In cases of breastfeeding, the mother’s diet should be light and easily digestible; she should avoid highly stimulating or spicy foods. Localized skin lesions in neonates may be treated symptomatically with infant-friendly lithospermum oil, calamine lotion, or Fule cream.
Newborns have a relatively high metabolic rate, delicate skin, and incompletely developed cutaneous immune function, making them prone to developing eczema—a condition rooted in hypersensitivity reactions closely linked to individual constitutional factors.
Firstly, maintain optimal indoor temperature and humidity. Avoid using strongly irritating bath products on infants and young children. For breastfed infants, mothers should follow a light, easily digestible diet and avoid highly stimulating or spicy foods.
For localized skin involvement in newborns, symptomatic topical treatments such as infant comfrey oil, calamine lotion, or Fule cream may be applied.
