What should be done if pseudomyopia occurs?

Introduction
Keep your head still while rotating your eyes. Close or open both eyes naturally, and look upward as far as possible. When you feel numbness, pause for 5 seconds, then slowly return your eyes to the neutral position and rest briefly. Once the numbness subsides, repeat the exercise by looking downward, leftward, and rightward—using the same method—and rest briefly after each direction. After completing all four directions, rotate both eyes clockwise three times, then counterclockwise three times.

Myopia is a very common condition, and among ophthalmology patients, a large proportion have myopia. However, many individuals do not have true (organic) myopia but rather “pseudo-myopia,” especially in the early stages of onset. Patients with pseudo-myopia should pay special attention to eye care in daily life, as this may gradually reverse the condition. So how can pseudo-myopia be reversed?

How to Reverse Pseudo-Myopia

Ocular Rotation Exercise

Keep your head still, and either close or open your eyes naturally. Gaze upward as far as possible.

When you feel a tingling or numb sensation, pause for five seconds, then gently return your gaze to the forward position and rest briefly. Once the sensation subsides, repeat the exercise by gazing downward, leftward, and rightward—in that order—resting briefly after each direction. After completing all four directions, rotate both eyes clockwise three full circles, then counterclockwise three full circles.

Benefits: Stimulates acupoints around the eyes and stretches the extraocular muscles to restore their elasticity.

Recommendation: Perform this exercise several times daily, especially before bedtime and upon waking—ideally while still lying in bed with eyes closed—for optimal effect.

Light-Gazing and Eye-Closing Exercise

After prolonged visual tasks such as reading, watching TV, or using a computer, look toward a brightly lit area at the end of each session. You may initially experience glare or discomfort; at this point, close your eyes and rest briefly. Once the glare sensation fades, reopen your eyes and focus on a distant object—one that appears clear and does not cause eye strain. Gradually increase the viewing distance step-by-step until the target becomes indistinct.

Benefits: Provides controlled photostimulation to the eyeball.

Recommendation: For best results, use a fixed reference object to monitor improvements in visual acuity. When distant objects no longer appear glaring and when you can clearly discern targets previously unresolvable, your vision is improving.

Observing Green Objects

Upon waking each day, step onto your balcony and observe nearby green plants closely—keeping your eyes wide open and positioned less than 10 cm from the foliage. Pause briefly, then shift your gaze downward to examine the plant, moving your eyes slowly in all directions—as if searching among the leaves for ants or tiny insects—and inspect whether any leaves show signs of insect damage.

Benefits: Provides close-range chromatic stimulation to the eyes using green light, while the “ant-searching” motion actively engages and exercises the ocular muscles.

We hope the above information proves helpful. Wishing you a joyful and healthy life!
