How to Switch Baby’s Formula
In daily life, many mothers are unable to breastfeed their babies for various reasons and therefore opt for infant formula. Some babies may experience adverse reactions after consuming certain formulas, necessitating a timely switch. So, how should parents transition their baby to a new formula?
How to Switch Your Baby to a New Formula
Babies fed with formula typically have immature digestive systems and require a gradual adaptation period when transitioning to a new formula. Therefore, switching formulas should not be rushed. Begin by replacing a small portion of the original formula with the new one—for example, use 75% of the original formula mixed with 25% of the new formula.

If your baby tolerates this mixture well—with no signs of digestive discomfort—proceed to the next step: mix equal parts (50% each) of the original and new formulas. If your baby continues to show no adverse reactions, gradually increase the proportion of the new formula while decreasing that of the original, until the transition is complete. When selecting a new formula, choose a reputable brand offering comprehensive, easily digestible nutrition—or one with a mild flavor—to minimize metabolic strain on your baby.

Before preparing the formula, wash your hands thoroughly and ensure the bottle is clean. Pour warm water (approximately 40°C) into the bottle first, then add the recommended amount of formula powder according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Gently swirl the bottle horizontally to mix—avoid vigorous shaking. Sterilize bottles regularly and store them in a dry, clean location. Once opened, infant formula should be consumed within one month; any remaining formula beyond this timeframe should be discarded to ensure safety and quality. We hope this information is helpful!
