What medication is effective for dry cough?
Disease description:
I’ve been coughing frequently lately, but there’s no phlegm. What medication is recommended for a dry cough?
For dry cough, dextromethorphan oral preparations may be taken initially, or compound licorice syrup may be used as an alternative. If symptoms are severe and bacterial infection is suspected, anti-inflammatory medications targeting the upper respiratory tract—such as roxithromycin capsules, cefixime dispersible tablets, or azithromycin tablets—may be prescribed. Additionally, maintain a healthy diet, drink plenty of water, and ensure adequate rest.
