Can gout cause kidney stones?
Disease description:
Yesterday, during my hospital examination, the doctor diagnosed me with kidney stones. I have previously been diagnosed with gout. Could gout cause kidney stones?
Gout can cause kidney stones, and chronic hyperuricemia may lead to uric acid kidney stones. To control serum uric acid levels and prevent acute gouty arthritis attacks, it is recommended to actively engage in various physical activities. Whole, unprocessed foods should be the primary choice in one’s diet. Excessive alcohol consumption impairs uric acid excretion; therefore, it is advisable to consume low-purine or very low-purine foods, while avoiding high-purine fast foods.
