Best Treatment for Eczema
Disease description:
My nephew has developed eczema, which frequently recurs. What is the optimal treatment for eczema?
Currently, the optimal treatment for eczema is systemic therapy, primarily involving antihistamines. Commonly used agents include chlorpheniramine, cyproheptadine, and diphenhydramine. Alternatively, non-sedating antihistamines—such as terfenadine or cetirizine—may be selected to avoid central nervous system sedation. These agents may also be administered alternately or in combination to enhance therapeutic efficacy. For patients with concurrent bacterial infection, fever, or lymphadenopathy, oral antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin or ciprofloxacin) or intramuscular penicillin may be prescribed.
