Tinea manuum is a contagious disease primarily caused by fungal infection. Close contact with an individual affected by tinea manuum—or contact with items previously used by such individuals, such as gloves, socks, or footwear—can lead to transmission. If a family member has tinea manuum, others should avoid direct contact; likewise, affected individuals must take appropriate precautions to prevent spreading the infection.
