Facial neuritis primarily refers to facial muscle paralysis caused by damage to the facial nerve, often associated with viral infection. In such cases, patients may present with facial neuritis accompanied by herpetic lesions within the ipsilateral auricle. When facial nerve elongation and edema occur, symptoms such as impaired eye closure, deviation of the mouth corner, and drooling may appear. Prompt consultation with a neurologist is essential.
