What medications should be taken for balanoposthitis?
Disease description:
Recently, I noticed redness and swelling on the skin of my glans penis; my wife thinks it’s balanoposthitis. What medications should be used to treat balanoposthitis?
Balanoposthitis (inflammation of the foreskin) is typically treated with oral anti-inflammatory antibiotics; topical antibacterial ointments may also be used. This condition often results from inadequate local hygiene. Under a physician’s guidance, oral anti-inflammatory medications such as levofloxacin are commonly prescribed. However, if symptoms are severe or if there is mucosal injury to the glans penis and foreskin, topical antifungal agents like miconazole ointment may be applied as directed by a healthcare provider.
