How long after childbirth can one resume sexual intercourse?
Disease description:
After giving birth, I would like to resume sexual intercourse but am concerned about potential effects. How long after childbirth is it safe to resume intercourse?
Generally, sexual intercourse should be avoided for at least one month after childbirth; it is advisable to refrain from resuming intercourse too early. Following delivery, women typically experience lochia (vaginal discharge), and their bodies remain relatively weak. Resuming intercourse prematurely may lead to intrauterine infection or other gynecological disorders. Therefore, intercourse should only be resumed once the body has fully recovered—typically no sooner than one month postpartum.
